History Of The Church
On October 13th, 1999, a fire in the basement of the church caused $98,000 worth of damage.
As God promised in Romans 8:28, He used the fire for the good of the church.
The fire allowed the church to undergo a much needed internal face-lift.
During the time of the fire repair, the church met in other places for only 6 weeks. God was good, as always, and the church never had to skip a service.
In the fall of 2000, the parsonage received some overdue maintenance.
The furnace was replaced, and central air and new windows were installed.
In January of 2001, Madison Baptist Church once again started reaching the children of the community through the "Seekers" program on Friday evenings. The Lord blessed the first year with an average attendance of about 40 children per week. Many young people came forward for salvation.
The first year high attendance was 63.
During the Spring of 2001, the people of the church began pulling together to make the needed improvements to the outside of the building.
The ends of the building were re-sided.
The trim and carport were painted, the church grounds were cleared, and a new parking lot was added.
God, using His might and His men: Pastor Fisher, Pastor McKinney, Pastor Barnes, Pastor Robert Weiss and currently, Pastor Fred Weiss: has reached many souls with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Through the years, many missionaries have come into our lives. Many are still a very important part of our life as we continue to lovingly pray for them and support them.
If we have learned even one thing from our heritage, it is this; God blesses the Church that reaches the lost, in the community, the state, the country and the uttermost parts of the earth. God has kept the heart of Madison Baptist Church beating strong because it is His hearts desire... THAT ALL MEN MIGHT BE SAVED.
May God continue to bless Madison Baptist Church as it continues to use all of it’s resources to reach the lost!
